Makiko SUZUKI

Makiko Suzuki says she was inspired by the work of Austrian-British potter Lucie Rie when she first became a ceramicist. Her works look more like elegant European antique ceramics, rather than Japanese traditional ceramics. Makiko makes her tableware and vases in unique colour series, including the most popular turquoise series. Her tableware is made so that it is light-weight, tough, and can be stacked on each other to store, which shows that the potter puts a great importance on the user-friendliness. Her works are not only aesthetically sophisticated but also outstanding in their functionality.
