Mayumi SHIMIZU

Mayumi Shimizu’s works are produced by her highly-sophisticated nerikomi (mosaic) technique. The potter prepares more than forty differently-colored clay sticks by mixing various colouring agents into clay. Then she creates delicate patterns by combining them together, slices them, and forms them into tiny cups and containers. Her works are produced through an unbelievably minute hand work. Their patterns make them look like a kaleidoscope, or you might even find a micro cosmos on them.
