Naomichi SATO

Naomichi Sato lives and works in his self-built atelier on Okinawa Island in the south of Japan. He started his career as a sculptor and his works has a wonderful feeling of solidity with a rough, craft-like texture. With his playful imagination, he paints patterns and marks individually on the vessels, using coloured slips and sgraffito technique. These pieces have the cheerfulness and warmth of handcraft. Sato’s work conveys the eclecticism and relaxing atmosphere of life on a southern island.
